Bun Development Service
Senior engineers building production servers on Bun with native HTTP, SQLite, test runner, and TypeScript-first tooling.
When Bun Replaces Node
Bun is a credible Node replacement in 2026. Written in Zig with JavaScriptCore, it starts faster, runs hotter, and ships more batteries than Node: built-in HTTP server, built-in SQLite, built-in test runner, built-in bundler, native TypeScript. For new server-side JS projects, Bun is faster to start and faster to run.
Compatibility with Node is mostly excellent. Most npm packages work without modification. Some native modules (node-gyp builds) still require workarounds. The shape of the standard library is close enough that engineers moving from Node feel at home immediately.
Where Bun shines: HTTP servers (Bun.serve handles 100k+ rps per core), test runners (faster than vitest), bundlers (faster than esbuild for many workloads), TypeScript execution (no transpile step), SQLite-backed apps. The "all batteries included" story means fewer dependencies and faster CI.
Where to be careful: production deployment ecosystem is younger than Node, observability tooling is catching up, and very-large enterprise apps may hit edge cases. For greenfield projects, the trade is increasingly worthwhile.
AsyncForge has senior engineers shipping production Bun apps. Submit HTTP services, test runner migrations, Bun-native tooling, or full Bun deployments. Light 4 days, Standard 48 hours, Pro 1 day.
What You Get
Bun.serve HTTP
Native HTTP server with high throughput. Direct WebSocket support. Routes via Hono or Elysia.
Built-in SQLite
bun:sqlite for embedded databases. Perfect for CLIs, local-first apps, and small SaaS.
Bun test
Built-in test runner faster than Vitest. Snapshot testing, mocking, coverage included.
TypeScript-native
Run .ts files directly, no transpile step. Watch mode, hot reload.
Bun bundler
Production bundling for browser and server. Often faster than esbuild for full builds.
Node migration
Migrate Node services to Bun where it wins. Test compatibility, benchmark, deploy.
